The Hunter Valley is now recognised as the birthplace of the multi-billion dollar-a-year wine making industry. The Hunter is renowned for its full-bodied white wines, ‘medium weight reds’ and some excellent ports. So The range of wines in the Hunter Valley is endless.

Wine tasting in the Hunter is now an institution and an excellent introduction to the variety and quality of Australian wine. The majority of wineries open daily, not just on weekends and public holidays. Visitors are provided with tasting glasses and given a small taste of each wine in the maker’s range of current vintages. Knowledgeable staff and often the winemaker will explain each wine, what grapes it is made of, whether it needs to be cellared, and so on. Tastings are small, but as most people prefer to drink them than spit them out, sensibly so.

Itinerary for our 6 Hour Wine Tour:

10am -11am  –   Cellar Door

The  cellar door offers an unforgettable experience, with our bubbly staff there to help you choose your favourite sparkling wine.
The traditional sparkling varieties are the flagships for our traditional methodé wines. The Pinot Noir Chardonnay Pinot Meunier (PCM) and Chardonnay Pinot Noir are examples of these.

Peterson House also specialises in seasonal offerings of the much loved red varieties of sparkling Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot and Chambourcin. We also produce a small number of limited release sparkling whites.

11.10am-11.45am  Hunter Valley Chocolate factory

Try our handmade award winning chocolates (made daily by our European-trained chocolatiers), imported lollies, freshly roasted coffee, Jane’s fabulous home made cakes, delicious ice creams and our own boutique wines! See Tilley the 1928 Chevrolet, a real Saracen armoured troop carrier, and Lollyhop!

Plus watch live chocolate-making demonstrations or explore our acres of vineyards and rolling countryside.

McGuigan Wines

A warm welcome awaits you at the McGuigans Cellar Door, located in the heart of the Hunter Valley.
There Staff will guide you through a tasting of McGuigans wines from the always popular Black label to exclusive labels such as vineyards select & there very special personal reserve.

Hunter Valley Cheese Co

Rose, Peter and the staff of the Hunter Valley Cheese Company invite you to visit there factory and tasting room to sample a selection of specialty handmade cheeses.

The Hunter Valley Cheese range is preservative free and manufactured on site to traditional cheesemaking recipes.
Enter our preserves room and discover the world of fine Hunter Valley produce and many other gourmet delights.

Situated in the heart of the Hunter Valley wine region of New South Wales, Hunter Distillery was the first 100% organic distillery in Australia, and in fact we understand is the only organic distillery in the southern hemisphere.

We produce Premium Organic Vodkas, as well as a range of Schnapps and Liqueurs, with other spirits to be released in the future.
